Frequently Asked QuestionsQ: If I haven't paid a deposit, how can I be sure a car will be available for me when I arrive in Faro?A: We have used Autorent for seven years and have never had any difficulties - they have a very large fleet of cars and have never let us down. A car of the spec required - or better - has always been waiting for us.Q: When I arrive at Faro, how do I find the AutoRent representative? (Updated April 2009)
A: Until Spring 2009 AutoRent representatives were available in the Arrivals Hall, however all the 'smaller' companies have now been moved out to a kiosk in Car Park 4.
When you arrive in the Arrivals Hall, ignore the signs for the major hirers, who have desks to the right of arrivals. Instead, turn left and walk along the length of the Arrivals Hall until you nearly reach the Departures check-in desks. Take one of the exit doors here onto the pavement and cross the road via the zebra crossing (traffic passes left to right here). Continue walking across the car park (there is a marked walk way) until you reach another road and crossing (here the traffic passes right to left). Crossing the road here brings you into Car Park Four. Here you will find a cabin marked 'Other Car Rentals'. This is shared by a number of hire companies. If it looks busy, you are likely to find the AutoRent representative with their van, nearby in Row G of the car park. All the reps wear yellow tops with 'AutoRent' on them.
Q: Why do I need to give my Drivers Licence and Passport Details on the online form?A: You don't have to, but if you do this will be pre-printed on the Rental Agreement at the Airport and so save time.Q: What is Super CDW?A: CDW - Collision Damage Waiver - is included as standard. This means that if your rental vehicle gets damaged you'll only have
to pay a certain amount (the excess) of the repair costs and anything above that is
covered by insurance. The CDW
Excess is €650 for most models, although it can be as high as €1200 on minibuses and MPVs. You can, however, pay for Super CDW, which means you would not have to pay anything towards a repair. This is usually an extra €7 per day.
Q: If I have a problem, is it easy to contact AutoRent?A: Once you have booked, you will be given a Freephone Number (for use in Portugal), together with a 24 hour mobile number and a number for staff at the Airport. If you require assitance with the booking or more information, contact me direct and I will try to help, although please note that the hire agreement is between you and AutoRent.Q: Is Fuel included?A: You are asked to return the car with the same amount of fuel as when you collected it - the level is shown on the Rental Agreement. This can be a pain, but there is a Petrol Station at the entrance/exit to the Airport so it shouldn't be a problem.
